Raleigh After Hours

So, my epic stop-everywhere-on-the-way-to-Raleigh trip ended up starting after the sun went down and leaving me only enough time to explore on my way to dinner with my boyfriend and his band (Villa Verde) before they played a show at Kings in Downtown Raleigh. I'm not complaining though! I had a blast listening to podcasts and belting out my favorite songs on the way there. And I also got some sweet photos of two of the three bands that played (sorry Dash, but I had to run the merch table!). All three bands were amazing and Kings was one of the coolest venues I've ever been to. Here's a few shots of my 45-minute Downtown excursion, Eagledown, and Villa Verde.

Sound Check

Last night was so much fun! I got to see Dash's first performance, Villa VerdeHeyrocco of Charleston, SC, and Rio Bravo. All four bands did amazingly! It was the best show I've been to in a while. Not to mention getting  Fire Belly's for the first time with the guys of Villa Verde and Heyrocco. Great times. Spring break is shaping up to be a memorable one. I just wish it was one or two more weeks!

My Saturday Night

This Spring Break by far has been the most exciting one yet. I've actually done things instead of just sitting around at home eating PB&Js and watching Spongebob and daytime television. This past Saturday, we celebrated the birth of our beloved ginger friend, Josh, by getting sushi, getting Jimmy Johns, seeing Hammer No More The Fingers at Satellite, and then proceeding to get my third dinner at I<3NY Pizza. Very eventful and so so so much fun! This week I'm working on making a stop-motion video of my encounters during my Spring Break, but to hold you over until that's finished, here's a few crappy-quality photos from the night!

Villa Verde + Last Year's Men + River City Extension

I had such an awesome time last Friday seeing all three of these amazingly talented bands. And not just the music, but the evening entirely was the best one I've had in forever! Sushi date, my pup, music, pictures, friends, pizza... it was marvellous. And upon writing this I've realized how dumb it was of me not to keep my camera attached to my face to document it all for you guys and myself. But, Dylan has vowed to not let me leave the house without Cammy (my camera) ever again! And fear not, for I do have some pictures to share! Here's some shots of Villa Verde's performance:

Twas A Splendid Evening

Last night my best friend and I went to a local wine and art gallery in Downtown Wilmington called Bottega to see a friend of ours, Hunter Wilson, play a set, as well as Joshua Brady Smith, and Old North State of Durango, Colorado! They were all fantastic and it was such a fun time! I would highly recommend you all do your ears some good by checking them out.

Wednesday night local musicians gathered at The Soapbox for its Open Mic Night which happens downstairs every week! My boyfriend's band Villa Verde was playing and I had the opportunity to take pictures, sway along to sweet tunes, and hang out with some long lost friends. It was glorious.

Villa Verde, Heyrocco, & Nelson the Hippo.

Over the weekend I was able to hear three simply AMAZING bands play at The Soapbox Laundro-Lounge. One of which was my dashing boyfriend's band, Villa Verde, a brand new Indie/Rock band falling somewhere in between Kings of Leon and Local Natives. They are brilliant, and not just because the lead singer is my boyfriend! The other two bands were Heyrocco and Nelson the Hippo., both based out of Charleston, SC. Nelson the Hippo. is Heyrocco's second band. Although it's the same guys, the sound is completely different, clearly showing their musical talent and ability. It was SUCH a great show and loads of fun hanging out with all of them. I only wish more people had known about it so they could come out and support all the guys. Here's a few snaps of what Wilmington missed:

She Painted It Red

This past Saturday my best friend Abby and I woke up with a mission. We wanted to find some hot concert outfits for that night, because our amazingly talented boyfriends from Villa Verde were kicking off the new year right by playing a show with Charleston's very own Heyrocco! So after four hours of jamming out to Kings of Leon we set out for the Salvation Army and Vintage Values in Downtown Wilmington. We found the best deals! I bought two skirts, two shirts, AND a little black dress for under $20! I absolutely LOVED Abby's finds and thought I'd share what she wore:
