Cinema 6

Hello everyone; this past week I was reunited with my best friend and we had a fun little photoshoot at an old abandoned theatre in town. I haven't gotten around to really working on them but here's a sample to hold you over!

Also this week I'm meeting with the owner of  a brand new jewellery boutique to work on some ideas for an upcoming promotional shoot! Not to mention I've got a really exciting shoot lined up for the end of this week! Stay posted!

Remembrance

I've been reflecting a great deal on my past work lately. I'm in this weird terrified-I'll-never-progress funk but also this so-excited-because-my-life-is-finally-starting haze. So, for a formal update: I just finished high school and I'm cleaning houses on Figure 8 Island again for the summer. I still haven't got the funds for my own computer or a nicer lens/new camera, and I haven't shot in ages. However, I know that if I just hold out a little longer, work my hardest, and keep a fresh mind and light heart I'll have everything I could ever have asked for. I've been realizing that no dream is unattainable, simply for the fact that we can even come up with it.
Anyway, I could write for days and never tire. I wanted to show you all some of my favourites from my collection of film photos from when I first started shooting. Its hard to think that in just a little over a year of  'kind of' doing photography I have made it this far and have realized that it is without a doubt my greatest passion.
As a little kid I changed my mind a million and one times about what I wanted to be when I grew up, but I distinctly remember the first thing I wanted to be was a photographer 'so I could take pictures of the cheetahs'. I threw my world into the photographs of National Geographic and any fashion magazine I could find. I travelled where they travelled. I was who they were. And now that I am me, I hope to bring love of life to those looking for it as well. These photos are by no means my best, but I love them nonetheless.

June 8th: Free Clinic, Blacks, Museum Mouth & Villa Verde

Gravity records hosted a killer show this past Saturday. Free Clinic, Blacks, Museum Mouth, and Villa Verde all played amazing. Although I only got an hour and a half of sleep before my high school graduation, the show was well worth the lack of sleep! I also wanted to play around with some long exposures to see what I could cook up with these guys. Check it out:

Breathing

Today I spent the day outdoors and doing little art projects. It was so beautiful. It was my last "real" day of high school; although I haven't been all week. I'd say it was well spent.

Magic

At last I have had the opportunity to look at my photos from the circus. Dylan and I took two of his younger siblings for their birthday. It was my first time though, so I think I was the child in the situation. It was fantastic. Like a dream. As we were leaving though, there were protesters outside with signs against the Cole Brothers Circus for animal cruelty. I was very upset at the idea of it, so I made sure to look into it when I got home. They do have a history of  animal cruelty, however after being charged with counts of abuse a few years ago, the circus now is on probation for it. Meaning that if they do not maintain the standards of the USDA and AWA then they would immediately be shut down. So, with that being said, fear not worried citizens! We did not pay people to abuse tigers and elephants! I was so relieved. Here's some shots from the big top:
